What is the LCS Spring Split 2022?
The LCS Spring Split 2022 is the first split of the tenth year of the North American professional League of Legends league. The LCS is considered one of the four major lol tournaments across the world, as every year three teams from NA are sent to the Worlds Championship. For the 2022 LCS Spring, the winner of the playoffs will become the LCS Spring Split 2022 champions and represent the region at the Mid-Season Invitational, the first international tournament of the 2022 competitive LoL Season
LCS Spring Split Schedule
The LCS Spring Split is the last major region to kick off their regular season. This is because the North American League has set up the LCS Lock-in, a “warm-up tournament” for the teams that starts in mid-January.
As a consequence, the start date of the Spring Split is pushed back to Feb. 5th and ends on Mar. 27, with a total of 8 weeks of play. Due to the stricter LCS Spring Schedule, there are no breaks for the organizations, as they will be playing every week.
The LCS Spring Playoffs start almost immediately after the end of the regular split. The tournament will begin on Apr. 2 and will terminate on Apr. 24, just a little more than 3 weeks. Compared to other major regions, the LCS has relatively more time to prepare for the matches.
Spring Split Format
The LCS has the same format as the League European Championship (LEC). 10 teams participate and will play double round robin best-of-one games, after which the top six teams will qualify for the playoffs.
Despite having the same format in the regular split, the LCS Spring Playoffs has a slight difference from its European counterpart. The top four teams are placed in the winners’ bracket, the 5th and 6th seed in losers’ and they will compete in a double elimination bracket.
The number 1 seed chooses who they want to face between #3 and #4 in Round 1, with the remaining one going up against #2. The losers from Round 1 of the winners’ bracket will face #5 and #6 in losers’, so they will have a second chance to continue in the tournament. All series will be Best of 5s.
The winners of the tournament will become the LCS Spring Split Champions and quality for MSI.

Who are the LCS Spring Favorites?
The LCS is home to some of the most famous and long-lasting organizations in LoL History. Teams like Counter Logic Gaming, TeamSoloMid and Cloud9 are still competing in the NA LCS after almost 10 years. With that being said, there are new teams that have risen and established themselves as the top organizations in the league.
For the 2022 LCS Spring Split, the best teams are Cloud9, Team Liquid, 100Thieves and Evil Geniuses. These are the teams you should be looking at and expect to win the Championship. What about the LCS Underdogs?
The LCS has been always a very top-heavy league, as the strongest organizations have often created gaps with the mid and bottom pack. This year, however, it looks like we might have some interesting newcomers that can challenge the aforementioned top teams.
For this LCS Spring Split 2022, teams such as Dignitas and TSM might be the ones to watch out. In particular, Dignitas was expected to be at the bottom of the pack by most fans, yet they have impressed during Lock-ins, finishing in the top 4. We’ll see whether they have the consistency and potential to join the fight.
When there are matches that include LCS Spring favorites vs underdogs, it becomes much harder to nail your bets due to how unpredictable these matches can be.
